LOVELILI & Josef Rataj

Connecting different artists and styles is always a challenge and a pleasure with guaranteed original results. The same is the case with the collaboration between the LL brand and pop artist Josef Rataj. I selected two models of handbags that could become a suitable “canvas” for this artist, resulting in incredible, original works for those of you who love art combined with the inherent quality of LOVELILI handbags.

Josef Rataj has recently become a highly sought-after artist not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. Thanks to an Italian art curator, he is closely affiliated with Italy, which is another thing we have in common. I can reveal that our creative process doesn’t end with handbags. You have much to look forward to!

The first collection of Frida Kahlo handbags is now available in our online store. Other collectors’ sets with portraits of interesting figures of the past and present will follow. There is only one piece of each handbag available and it comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Josef Rataj. Such a handbag is therefore a prized work of art that can rise in value over time.

What has advanced your career the most?
Probably the moment when I hit absolute rock bottom and decided to bounce back well. I dreamed of being No. 1 in the world. Dreaming is a daily driving force for me. When I’m not working, I’m dreaming…

I’ve been greatly influenced by a couple of artists from the United States, where I’ve also spent some time. I love the 1950s. What got me going the most, however, was reading Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret. I really recommend it…

What is your connection with LOVELILI? Why did you agree to the collaboration? 
The union of our brands is all about the harmony of souls. That’s just the way I am. I can recognise a kindred spirit in the first moment. It’s good to work together with such a person. I love everything handmade, and I feel that about LOVELILI, a brand that creates with love and that dreams like I do.

If you didn’t live in the Czech Republic, where would it be?
USA…

And what kind of music do you listen to?
The Notorious B.I.G., LA Cool Jay, N.W.A., 2Pac, AC/DC, The Beatles, 1990s…

Josef is quite an introvert, so I couldn’t get more out of him :) Maybe he’ll tell us something about himself next time. Our collaboration certainly doesn’t end with handbags…
